Awards

Text Box: The SCNF has historically offered two awards annually.

The Ruth A. Nicholson Research Grant
The Ruth A. Nicholson Research Grant honors Ms. Nicholson who was one of the founders of the SCNF and whose donations helped to establish the endowment.  Her many contributions to nursing in South Carolina include serving as the first president of the Foundation and president of SCNA from 1971 to1973.  In 1995 the research grant was established in her name and is supported through interest from the endowment and contributions to this fund. The Research Grant is awarded to a nurse researcher within the state.

Healthy Communities Grant
Recognizing that healthy communities provide a rich quality of life for residents as well as reduce health care costs, the Board of Trustees has established a Healthy Communities Grant Award to be given to a qualified nurse. A proposal is submitted to the Scholarship and Awards Committee outlining the program goals and objective as well as anticipated outcomes. The Board of Trustees determines the amount of money that will be allocated toward this award.
